We are learning to recognise and make sequences
In maths we have been looking at how to make and continue patterns. We've created our own simple sequences using cubes, teddies, and colours. Take a look at our work -

Citizen of the Week
Room Four are so proud of their "citizen of the week"! She was given her certificate in front of the whole school at the PRIDE assembly on Friday, which also happened to be Purple Cake day. Ka rawe!
We are learning to write thank you notes
Paper Plus Barrington have helped our school refill the library by offering a 30% discount for donated books. We thought that it would be good to say "thank you", just like we say thank you to our friends and family when they do something nice for us.
During writing time with Mrs Ngan we brainstormed different ways we could write thank you. Then we wrote and published our thank you notes onto bunting flags. They looked amazing when strung up. Miss Buick is going to give our thank you gift to Paper Plus on our behalf.
Visiting Santa Maria Rest Home
Room 4 went to visit Santa Maria Rest Home last Wednesday. We experienced many interesting things along the way - monarch butterflies, tar and gravel being laid on Birdwood Avenue, and sweet scented roses. While we were there we read books, sang a song and looked at the goldfish.
There were lots of smiles from the residents of Santa Maria that day.
Music, Magic and Hula Hoops...
A visit from the Shanghai Starlight Acrobatic Troupe
On the 28th of February the Shanghai Starlight Acrobatic Troupe visited Beckenham School. They played music on traditional Chinese instruments, hula hooped and performed magic tricks. They even made a human pyramid!
Room 4 liked the hula hoops a lot - here is a video of the best bit:
